A thread-bound notebook with a cover made from wax-treated paper (ro-biki). With use, the cover ages like leather, picking up wrinkles and scratches. It’s the same size as an actual passport, so it’s easy to carry and works as a travel companion or an everyday notebook.
About the Museum Series
Part of the “World Museum Tour” theme, a journey of painting around RO-BIKI NOTE. Each notebook is based on a distinctive painting from a museum collection somewhere in the world, so you can take a fun trip around the world through the paintings and the museums that hold them.
About the artwork
- Artist: Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849), famous for Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, who also painted many flower-and-bird pictures.
- Work: Chrysanthemum and Bee, from an untitled series of Large Flowers.
- Style: Realistic, delicate expression and a beautifully composed layout that leads the eye through the picture. In this work, the petals and leaf veins are rendered in fine detail.
