A thread-bound notebook with a cover made from wax-treated paper (ro-biki). With use, the cover ages like leather, picking up wrinkles and scratches. It’s the same size as an actual passport, so it’s easy to carry and works as a travel companion or an everyday notebook.
About the Museum Series
Part of the “World Museum Tour” theme, a journey of painting around RO-BIKI NOTE. Each notebook is based on a distinctive painting from a museum collection somewhere in the world, so you can take a fun trip around the world through the paintings and the museums that hold them.
About the artwork
- Artist: Abraham Mignon (1640-1679), a German painter who made many still lifes of flowers and fruit and worked mainly in the Netherlands.
- Work: Still Life with Flowers and a Watch (1660-1679).
- Style: Delicate brushwork and meticulous finish. He excelled at compositions that place red or white roses at the center, floating against a dark background. Look closely and even the tiny insects are rendered realistically.
About the collection: Rijksmuseum Amsterdam
The largest museum in the Netherlands, with a vast collection covering Dutch art history from the Middle Ages to the present. Famous works include Rembrandt’s The Night Watch and Vermeer’s The Milkmaid.
