Kyoohoo Japanese Kokeshi Doll Miyama (k12-4325)

The kokeshi is one of Japanese handcrafts.
Miyama is made by Fujikawa Masae.
Miyama means a place deep in the mountains.
There are white alpine flowers in the body.
We feel the atmosphere of mountain from kokeshi's color.
Wearing its hair in a bun is one of point for the doll.

Kokeshi Dolls are major dolls in Japan which are made from wood.
Their origin was in Edo era (1603A.D. - 1867A.D.) as souvenirs for the injured at hotsprings.
Since then kokeshi craftsmen's skills to make grains and paint was so developed that kokeshis became ornamental dolls.
