The kokeshi is one of Japanese handcrafts. The kokeshi is modern folk handicraft.Satonoko means child in village. The doll's smile is very kind and makes us relaxed. The round shape is so lovely atmosphere.The craftperson is Chie who has lovery works in Kokeshi. We think she is heartfull person so the doll is reflected her personality.

Kokeshi Dolls are major dolls in Japan which are made from wood.
Their origin was in Edo era (1603A.D. - 1867A.D.) as souvenirs for the injured at hotsprings.
Since then kokeshi craftn's skills to make grains and paint was so developed that kokeshis became ornamental dolls.
