This kokeshi is named "Michiyuki (M)" which is made by Masae Fujikawa who won the Prime Minister Award. The kokeshi is wearing Michiyuki coat which is wearing on Kimono. We feel autumn and it's chilly weather from the pattern of Japanese pampas grass. This kokeshi is one of popular doll in our shop.

Kokeshi Dolls are major dolls in Japan which are made from wood.
Their origin was in Edo era (1603A.D. - 1867A.D.) as souvenirs for the injured at hotsprings.
Since then kokeshi craftn's skills to make grains and paint was so developed that kokeshis became ornamental dolls.
