Kyoohoo Japanese Kokeshi Doll Kotonone (k12-4321)

This kokeshi's title is "Kotonone" which is made by Toua Sekiguchi.
It's made of wood.
The facial expression is soft and kindly.
The male kokeshi-hina is wearing kimono which is drawn pine trees, the female one is wearing red kimono which is drawn white and red flowers.

Kokeshi Dolls are major dolls in Japan which are made from wood.
Their origin was in Edo era (1603A.D. - 1867A.D.) as souvenirs for the injured at hotsprings.
Since then kokeshi craftsmen's skills to make grains and paint was so developed that kokeshis became ornamental dolls.
