Kyoohoo Japanese Kokeshi Doll samurai (k12-4317)

The doll is wearing Kimono and bring sword.
Samurai means social position's name or their job.
They served government officials and made an official trip to rural communities from the capital the Heian period.
Later Heian period, Samurai gained absolute power and became influential in politics.

Kokeshi Dolls are major dolls in Japan which are made from wood.
Their origin was in Edo era (1603A.D. - 1867A.D.) as souvenirs for the injured at hotsprings.
Since then kokeshi craftsmen's skills to make grains and paint was so developed that kokeshis became ornamental dolls.
